It was such a treat to get to do this makeover. Mary has such a different skin tone and coloring than most of the people I’ve applied makeup to, that it was fun to find the colors and textures that worked for her.
I wanted to create a really wearable look for her, something that would be great for lunch out or a dinner party. Also, I wanted to add a little spring vibe with glossy lips and glowy skin.
I started with her eyes, and after primer, I started to build out her crease with a taupe eyeshadow. Next, I layered a light dusty rose shadow over her lid for some color, then lined her top lid with a thin line of gel. Mary has really full brows, so I just powdered them a little, added a litle hairspray to hold them in place and moved on. After a light coat of foundation, I dusted some pink blush to her cheek bones and blended it down on to the apples of her cheeks. I completed her look, with a bright lip liner all over her lips, topped with some gloss, and a touch of lengthening mascara.
What do you think?
